One thing I've been exploring recently is using software defined radio (#SDR) USB stick to receive aircraft info on 1090MHz. Works pretty well. Using #dump1090 and additional code to send to #homeassistant over #mqtt and I setup custom alerts.

Although quite a ways from heathrow, we do see an awful lot of aircraft over our house, including from the local airport.

But I discovered you can also use dump1090 / ADS-B radar on your phone ! So I'll be taking the USB stick + phone to Bristol today to see what can be picked up from the #BalloonFestival
