I've stopped using Facebook and found that I'm surprised by many local events — they put it on Facebook and assume everyone will see it. Also many small local cafés, shops, etc. use their Facebook page to show opening times, unexpected closures etc. It can be really annoying when you follow a link given as a website and find it's a Facebook page.
Though I've stopped using Facebook I can't stop using Facebook messenger. A lot of our u3a groups, including the u3a committee, use it for discussion because "everyone has it".
